Perilous Journey: The Hmong Exodus after the Secret War
The Book
From Tou Her: As a visual artist, I wanted to tell the Hmong Exodus as bigger paintings to display in galleries. I was going to use Inktober as a launch point to do value studies for larger paintings. I wanted to share the stories of the exodus that I heard from my parents and relatives. With so many of them passing on now, we are close to losing these stories, our history, forever. Sharing these stories on Facebook connected so many people due to the shared trauma, that putting this book together was a no brainer.
Perilous Journey are the true stories the Hmong people went through as they fled Laos. Yes, these stories are true. Even the fantastical scary ones. Each family has their own story that tells of the heartache and struggles they went through after the Secret War. There were common struggles and unique ones that are shared in this book. These stories are to remind the next generation of their roots and the path to freedom.
